PLA refers to polylactic acid which is made from corn starch, a renewable resource which is also a substitute for traditional plastic products. Non toxic, PLA products can take up to 6 months to compost fully in an official commercial composting facility. A modified version of PLA called CPLA is also used in our hot cup lids. CPLA products, unlike PLA products, have been designed to stand up to hotter temperatures so they can be used to serve up piping hot cups of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and more.
